Quarter Section Select - December, 2017

  • A new tool has been added to the left side menu of AbaData 2.0 called Location Select.  This will allow quarter sections to be selected and then all objects within those quarters will be highlighted and available in the select report.

Drawn line shapefile export - December, 2017

  • In order to help generate shapefile submissions into the AER OneStop system, it is now possible to draw lines in AbaData 2.0 representing pipeline splits, new pipelines or pipeline mapping updates and export those lines as shapefiles in the format required for OneStop submissions.

Aerial imagery replaced - December, 2017

  • In an effort to provide AbaData 2.0 users with more current aerial imagery, the AbaData 2.0 aerial imagery source has been switched from Valtus to Bing.  Although the new imagery does not include the imagery date, in most areas the imagery is several years newer that what was previously available.  The Satellite imagery provided by Planet – updated yearly and including imagery capture date – continues to be available under the Satellite option.

Federal Lands layer adjustment - December, 2017

  • The Federal Lands layer which is available under Surveys in the Map Display menu has been modified to make it easier to see the pipeline and well infrastructure on the land.  The layer still links to the federal CLSR survey plan database.

Adjust wellhead size on map - December, 2017

  • Clicking on the settings icon to the right of the Oil and Gas Wells checkbox under the Types tab of the Wells layer in the Map Display menu will open a window with a scrollbar allowing you to increase or decrease the size of the wellheads on the map.

Export Map aspect ratio preview - December, 2017

  • Users now have the ability to preview the aspect ratio of a Map Export in either portrait or landscape mode.  This will allow them to make changes to the map view before generating the print file.

Identify labelled pipelines - December, 2017

  • By clicking on the Identify Labelled Pipelines text at the bottom of the User-Defined Labels tool, you will get a list of all the pipelines visible on the map screen, and whether they have been labelled yet.

Inline user-defined labels - December, 2017

  • When creating user-defined high-pressure pipeline labels, clicking the Inline checkbox will allow the label to be added on the pipeline at the location of the click instead of having to click the pipeline and then click the location you want the label to appear.

User-defined label halos - December, 2017

  • When creating user-defined high-pressure pipeline labels, it is now possible to create a halo around the label so it can be placed directly on the pipeline.

View pipeline updates - July, 2016

  • Pipeline information is now pulled on a daily basis from the AER in order to identify any licensing changes from the monthly data.  If a change has occurred on a pipeline, a notice will appear on the pipeline double-click, or changes can be viewed on the map by turning on the High Pressure Daily Changes layer under Pipelines in the Map Display Menu.

Print Coords - June, 2017

  • A tool named Print Coords was added to the left side menu.  Selecting this tool then clicking on the map will result in the coordinates of the selected point in decimal degrees, degrees minutes seconds, 10TM, UTM and 3TM being displayed and printable.

Search by Reserve - April 5, 2016

  • Using the Global Reports button, you can now search for all pipelines or wells within a first nations reservation or metis settlement boundary.  To conduct the search, select the Pipelines or Wells option and then click on the Within County Filter checkbox.  Then, just start typing in the name of the County, Rural Municipality, Reservation or Metis Settlement.

Print to set scale - Dec 14, 2015

  • A Print to Scale checkbox has been added to the Export Map Image box to allow the map printout to be output to a specific scale.  When the checkbox is checked, a scale can be input and the printout will be to that scale along with the appropriate scale bar displayed on the printout.

Multiple Pipeline Substances displayed - Dec 14, 2015

  • When viewing pipeline information through the fly-over, a double-click or a pipeline report, all substances associated with the line will be displayed.  More than 1,000 pipeline licence segments in Alberta are associated with more than just one substance.

Saved Maps scrollbar – Dec 14, 2015

  • A scrollbar has been added to the Load Maps menu.  Previously, some users could not view all of their saved maps if they had more than would fit in the window, and the scrollbar solves this issue.

Well and Pipeline Report Options – Dec 14, 2015

  • The ability to select specific data fields to be displayed for pipeline and well reports can be accessed by opening the Select Reports menu.  Clicking on the Options text at the top opens up the Report Options window and there are numerous choices for how the reports will be displayed.  For example, if you wanted to break out the From location of a pipeline and have the LSD, section, township, range and meridian each displayed in their own columns, you would choose the Separated option under From Location.  The same options are also available under the Global Reports.

Arrowhead available - Dec 14, 2015

  • Under the Line option of the drawing tools, an arrowhead can be placed at the end of a drawn line to assist users in creating pointers on the map.

Display Board Order System – Dec 14, 2015

  • Board Order System information including Field, Pool and Strike Area can now be displayed on the map.  The layers can be accessed via the Environment section of the Map Display menu.  As well as displaying the BOS information, Field, Pool and Strike areas can be filtered on the map, wells can be selected and by using the Zoom To tool, a Field and/or Pool can be zoomed to and associated wells highlighted.

Timeout Timer Added - June 1, 2015

  • Users can now see how long they have before they are automatically logged out of AbaData 2.0 due to inactivity.  The timer just below the Save Map button displays time left, which will automatically reset when the AbaData server is contacted.  The default timeout is 30 minutes but users can also extend the period that they are logged in before timeout occurs by clicking on the timer and extending the time showing on the clock.

View Historical Satellite Imagery - May 21, 2015

  • For the first time ever, our imagery partner BlackBridge Geomatics is making all previous years of its Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin (WCSB) Mosaics available as a consolidated, streaming imagery service.
  • 7 years of imagery (2006 – 2012) is now immediately accessible, with one of the largest and most consistent high-resolution historical imagery coverages of the WCSB area.
  • Features of the Historical Imagery Streaming Service:
    • high-resolution imagery, using exclusively 2.5m from SPOT5 satellite
    • consistently high-quality, seamless mosaic
    • immediate access to over 10 million km2 of imagery over a 7 year time span
    • useful for mapping applications or landscape change and environmental impact assessment

View Disposition Lands- May 12, 2015

  • After generating a disposition report, it is now possible to go to the end of the report and view the lands a disposition is registered in. To view the lands, browse to the end of the disposition report and click the + symbol beside the disposition of interest and all applicable lands will be displayed.

Pipeline Labels Enhanced - May 11, 2015

  • The High Pressure User-Defined Labels now allow for the displaying of the full company name on the pipeline labels, rather than only the abbreviated name previously available.

Pipeline Filters Added - May 11, 2015

  • Additional High Pressure Pipeline filters are now available through the Filters tab of the Pipelines section of the Map Display menu.

Pipeline Fly-Over Options – May 11, 2015

  • The Fly-Over information displayed when hovering over a pipeline on the map can now be adjusted through the Fly-Overs tab of the Pipelines section of the Map Display menu.  The settings can be saved as part of a saved map.

Custom Pipeline Lists – May 11, 2015

  • Users can now create Custom Pipeline Lists in AbaData 2.0.  Pipelines belonging to a list can be displayed uniquely on the map and reports can be run specific to the pipelines on a list.

Create CBM Report from any location - March 18, 2015

  • It is now possible to generate a CBM Report from any point on the map.  To initiate the report, open up the Buffer menu to the left of the map and click on CBM Report.  Different radii  can be set and a water well report will be generated based on the point on the map clicked.

River Basin boundaries - March 18, 2015

  • Boundaries for the seven major river basins of Alberta are now viewable on the map.  To view them, click on the Major River Basins checkbox in the Other tab of the Environment layer under Map Display.

Crown Land layer – March 18, 2015

  • Crown Land can now be displayed on the AbaData 2.0 map.  To access this layer, click in front of the checkbox in front of Crown Land in the Other tab of the Terrain layer under Map Display.  The Crown Land will show in grey on the map.

Pipeline display options added - March 6, 2015

  • The ability to change the colour of pipelines based on specific substances is available by clicking on the gear symbol to the right of the High Pressure pipeline checkbox under the Pipeline section of the Map Display menu.  The thickness of the pipelines displayed on the map can also be increased, which makes it easier to hover and double-click on a pipeline on the map.  The pipeline display options can be set up and preserved in a saved map, including a default map.

Land Status Report enhanced - Feb 12, 2015

  • The Land Status report which is accessible via the Global Reports icon above the map will now return a report including all disposition types, including FMAs, TPAs, AOAs etc.  Some of these disposition types are not included in the DIDs + dataset that is displayed under the Dispositions layer within the Surveys layer group under the Map Display menu.  For more information on this change please contact us at abadata@abacusdatagraphics.com or 403-346-7555.

Cellular towers added - Feb 12, 2015

  • Cell tower locations – and information about the tower ownership, height etc. – can be viewed by turning on the Cell Towers checkbox under the Utilities layer in the Map Display menu.

Add Custom Shapefiles - Feb 9, 2015

  • Users can now add custom shapefiles to AbaData. To do this, you must first add all the shapefile elements to a single zip file. Then under Map Display, click on Add Custom Layers. Click on the Choose File button and browse to the .zip file. The custom layer will be added to the map and a checkbox will also appear allowing you to control the visibility of the layer.

Closed Captioning Enabled – Feb 2, 2015

  • AbaData Academy users will now have access to closed captioning across the full range of videos. To enable subtitles click on the “CC” button at the bottom of the player window. Click here to read more.

Automatic Timeout Enabled - Jan 8, 2015

  • Users logged in to AbaData 2.0 will be automatically logged out after 30 minutes of inactivity.  They will be re-directed to the login page and the licence being used will be freed up.

Printing Revisions - Jan 7, 2015

  • Changes have been made to the printing function of AbaData 2. The resolution of the prints has now been increased to provide clearer printouts. This results in slightly slower printing times, however printing is also more stable. If you would like to have a custom layout for your printouts including your company logo, please contact us at abadata@abacusdatagraphics.com.

Waterways Direction of Flow - Dec 17, 2014

  • Direction of flow arrows can now be shown on major waterways. They can be accessed by clicking on the Terrain section of Map Display, then turning on National Hydro Network. The source of the data is the National Hydro Network.

  • Both the satellite and aerial imagery can now be turned on simultaneously and compared using a slider. This allows you to find the best imagery for your particular application.

Sample UAV Photography – Nov 13, 2014

  • Abacus Datagraphics Ltd. is now offering UAV photography services. Samples of this 4cm resolution photography are now available for viewing on AbaData 2. If you are interested in having some custom photography captured and uploaded to Abadata 2 there is a brochure available from the Map Display section of the application.

Seed Zones and Sub-Regions added – Oct 30, 2014

  • Alberta Natural Sub-Regions and Seed Zone boundaries added to the Map Display.  Both layers are available under the Other tab of the Environment layer group under the Map Display menu.

Adjust Layer Opacity – Oct 28, 2014

  • Solid layer types can have their opacity adjusted by clicking on the gear symbol to the right of the layer name under the Map Display menu.  This will allow objects behind the solid layer to be more or less visible depending on the opacity selected.

Profile Multiple Pipelines – Oct 22, 2014

  • Up to five pipelines can be selected on the map and by clicking on the Pipeline Elevation Profiles report under the Select Reports, separate elevation graphs for each pipeline will be displayed.

  • From the well information box accessed from the double-click, a well can be selected and highlighted on the map in numerous colour choices.

  • Users can now toggle between well events by clicking on the Change Event dropdown at the bottom of the well information page.  The option will only be available for wells with multiple events.
