Well Types

Well Types

The Wells section under Map Display allows the user to display oil and gas wells in Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia. The well information is updated monthly directly from the respective energy regulators from each province.  The Wells section also features Newly Licenced Wells, domestic water wells.   Custom Well Lists are also available which will be explained in more detail later on in this section.

The Labels tab under the Wells section of Map Display allows the user to turn on and off the well labels on the map.

By clicking on the Filters tab, the user can set criteria which changes which Oil and Gas Wells show up on the map. Wells can be filtered by Status, Licence Date and Spud Date (see following image) and the filters can be combined.

Manage Well List

The Manage Well Lists tab open up the Custom Well List management window.  Well lists can be created which can be used for various reports and also to distinguish a group of wells on the map.

Clicking on the Zoom To text will zoom to the map area where the wells in the list are located.  The View Wells text will open up a window which lists all the wells currently in the list, and allow for individual wells or wells from a specified quarter section to be added to the list, as shown below.

The Edit text allows the name or colour of the well list to be changed.  A custom symbol for the list can also be selected by browsing to it.

When turned on, the wells that belong to a Custom Well List that is turned on will have the Custom Well List symbol around the wellhead, as shown below.
